Did you know that what you eat has a profound influence on your body’s ability to fight germs? Today we’re going to look at three foods to avoid, as well as supporting your immune system through nutrition.
THREE IMMUNE-SUPPRESSING FOODS
1. Refined sugars – studies suggest that refined sugars actually suppressed your immune system, which means that eliminating sugary foods and drinks is key in supporting your immune system. If you have a sweet tooth that you just can’t kick, try making your own candy with honey or agave nectar, or stick to dried fruits. Tip: Inhaling Peppermint oil may help beat those sugar cravings!
2. Caffeine
Caffeine may give you the get up and go you need in the morning, but it can also have some unwanted effects on your immune system. That boost of energy can also come with the unpleasant side effect of boosted cortisol levels. Cortisol is your body’s stress hormone and it can lower your immune function if you regularly have high levels of it. Tip: YL’s CortiStop may help your body balance cortisol levels.
Too much caffeine can also make it harder for your body to produce T cells (an important part of your body’s immune response), and suppress production of lymphocytes – cells that fight infection. Tip: NingXia Red and Nitro are a great replacement for caffeine-laden beverages! And EndoFlex essential oil is great for helping you start your day with energy.
3. MSG
MSG is a common flavoring that gives food a delicious umami taste, but it has some pretty harsh effects on your immune system. Studies indicate that eating foods containing MSG can cause unwanted changes to your thymus and spleen, decreasing your body’s production of lymphocytes.

Oh no! I basically live off of iced coffee or coffee in general 🙈 and while I don’t add a lot of sugar, I’d be lying to say that there’s none in there, lol. Thanks for the tips!
